what if instead of new technologies

What if instead of new technologies,

this century was known for introducing totally new concepts,

such as the opposite of praying,

where god calls out to us to get something done;

and the opposite of all this recording and remembering,

where things just are and then we move on;

and instead of seeking resolution on things the perpetrators of wrongdoing

will never help us with,

we put the incomplete aspects of life on pedestals,

like the unique treasures they are?

there would be new words for such things,

and new disciplines in universities for students to get degrees showing

they’re experts at expanding our understanding of these new concepts.

what we come up with to extend the reach of our body parts

is dull as a free set of steak knives

compared to the whetstone of our minds.

the latter is like the edge of the shed that my daughter

rammed the remnants of her birthday piñata against,

and the beautiful random pattern of colored tissue paper scraps

left stuck to the off white painted siding wasn’t the former.

it was the third thing that hasn’t been given a name yet.
