I've long bought fashion magazines to cut up for collages. (Spot bits and pieces of them, usually background patterns, here and here). But the truth is I also admire the beauty of what's worn and how it's shot. It's time to make my dream of being fashion photographer a reality.

In this ongoing series, I'm going to pair the striking fashions of everyday people (with their permission, when their faces are shown) with either the same location empty of people (to show what we add to a landscape) or juxtaposed with interesting other shots (to highlight composition, colors, posture, and so on). We need to remember: What's in magazines is actually less interesting than what's all around us every day.
