one summer evening

one summer evening

warm white wine

helped put me to sleep

while sitting on the couch

next to my wife

as we tried to finish

a vivien leigh

and laurence olivier dvd

now wake up, watcher!

leigh’s face seems to say

in that hamilton woman’s

penultimate scene

in which her titular character

receives news of her portrayer’s

real life lover’s character’s

distant heroic death

I paused the movie

the next evening

on that pinched fuming face

as dawn went up

to resettle a kid

so I could share with her

the best this soporific film

and life have to offer

for whom it is intended

this expression of love

so fierce it pierces frames

doesn’t matter much

when all the honest and fake

layers in life get torn

in the same jungian spot

marrying everyone aware of it or not
